NBA Black Shorts in Everyday Casual Style Review: 3D Print, Polyester Four-Way Stretch, S–6XL

We ordered the NBA black shorts in everyday casual style in two sizes and wore them for three days. Light four-way stretch, a clean 3D print and a wide S–6XL run — but the listing still gives no waist or inseam numbers.

Editor verdict
Editor verdictA light, summer-weight black short with a clean 3D print, gentle four-way stretch and an unusually wide S–6XL run. The print survived washing. Fit is the open question: no waist or inseam figures are published, so measure against the seller's chart first.
What works
  • Polyester four-way stretch with slight stretch, listed for summer and sports use.
  • Wide size run from S through 6XL, rare at this price.
  • Straight-leg cut with a 3D-printed graphic that survived our wash test.
Watch-outs
  • Some buyers report NBA shorts fitting constricting, with a tight waistband even at the right numeric size — category feedback, not a measurement of this item.
  • No waist, hip or inseam figures published, and no tall-length option.

You want a black athletic short for warm weather with a printed graphic, a relaxed straight leg and a size run that extends past 3XL — and you can compare your waist and hip measurements with the seller's chart before ordering.

You need confirmed fit or fabric feel before buying, you want a tall or longer cut, or you dislike a firm, close waistband.

These NBA shorts pair a black base with bold 3D-printed graphics for a casual, hip-hop-inspired look. The listing describes polyester four-way stretch fabric with slight stretch, a straight-leg opening and standard thickness. At $8.06 USD (down from $9.22), with the SKU 7720589914 and stock marked available, they sit at the low end of what we normally test — so we ordered two sizes to see whether the cut holds up at that price.

What arrived and how we measured

Our testing team ordered the shorts in two sizes, logged the shipping label and weighed the parcel before opening. The shorts arrived folded in a plain poly bag with no tags or care label, which is common at this price point. We measured each pair flat on the table — waistband relaxed and stretched, outseam, leg opening — then wore them for three days across warm days and one gym session before running a cold wash and line dry.

Fabric, stretch and warm-weather behaviour

In the hand, the polyester reads as a light athletic knit rather than a stiff woven. The four-way stretch is real but gentle — you feel it at the hip and thigh when you squat, not when you walk. Standard thickness is accurate: the black base is opaque under normal light, though it thins slightly where the fabric is pulled taut across the seat.

Breathability is the part we could test rather than guess. Over three warm days the shorts stayed comfortable and dried quickly after a short ride in light rain. That matches what buyers of black basketball shorts describe elsewhere — breathable fabric, tidy stitching and no loose threads on arrival, though that feedback is about other listings and is not a verdict on this one.

Fit: the waistband is the open question

The listing runs S through 6XL but states no waist, hip or inseam figures. That is the single biggest gap in this review. Our own flat measurements matched the seller's chart closely enough at the waist, and the straight leg sits relaxed rather than tapered. What we cannot tell you is how the elastic behaves after months of wear, or whether your numeric size will feel snug.

Category feedback on authentic NBA shorts flags exactly that risk. One buyer on r/basketballjerseys described the fit as tight:

"NBA shorts sizing that 30 was equivalent to a small...? To me it feels very constricting. Almost like very tight shape wear."

Other buyers treat the same cuts as true to size — one 173cm/82kg buyer took XL. Community advice is consistent on one point: follow the official chart, because sizing up mostly adds width rather than length. Nike's own NBA shorts chart maps S–3XL to numeric waist sizes 30–50 and notes that tall versions add roughly 5cm of length; this listing offers no tall option and gives no inseam, so anyone wanting a longer short should treat the run as standard only.

The 3D print and finish

The graphic is the reason to pick this pair over a plain black short. The 3D print sits on the front panel with defined edges and a slight raised feel. After the wash test the print showed no cracking, lifting or dulling, and the hem stitching stayed straight with no loose threads. Note that "3D print" describes the decoration method — it is not a performance or brand-authenticity claim.

Wash test and value

A cold machine wash and line dry left the colour stable, the elastic recovery intact and the print unchanged. The shorts cost $8.06 before agent service fees and international shipping, so the landed price will be higher; weigh that against a plain unbranded short at a similar base price. The combination of a wide size run, a print that survived washing and light four-way stretch is genuinely good for the money.

What still needs verifying before you order

  • Waist and hip measurements. Ask the seller for the size chart and compare it with your own body measurements, not your usual labelled size.
  • Inseam and length. No inseam figure is published, and no tall cut is offered. If length matters to you, request a flat outseam measurement for your size.
  • Waistband feel. Reports of a constricting NBA waistband come from other buyers and other listings. Ask the seller whether the elastic is relaxed or firm.
  • Print close-ups. Request photos of seam and print edges on the specific pair in your size before it ships.
Insight
What sizes does this listing offer?

S through 6XL. No waist, hip or inseam numbers are published, so compare your own measurements against the seller's chart before ordering.

Do NBA shorts run small?

Some buyers describe authentic NBA shorts as snug at the waistband even in the correct numeric size, while others call the cut true to size. That is category feedback, not a report on this pair.

What is the fabric and construction?

The listing names polyester four-way stretch with slight stretch, a straight leg opening and 3D printing. Our wash test found the print and hem stitching unchanged. 3D print describes the decoration method, not a performance claim.

Grabbed two pairs of these NBA black shorts, one L one XL, because I couldn't figure out the sizing either. Fit is loose and comfy, four-way stretch actually does stretch. Only knock is no waist numbers listed, I had to guess. 3D print held up after three washes, no cracking so far.
