Lee Black T-Shirt in Casual Streetwear Style Review: 250g vs 200g Cotton

We ordered two Lee black graphic tees — 250g heavy cotton and 200g — measured them flat, compared them against QC photos and washed both. Here is how the Doraemon baseball print tee scored.

Editor verdict
Editor verdictTwo builds, one price point: the 250g tee is the one we would reorder, with clean flat measurements and a print that survived washing. The 200g white runs light — check opacity and flat numbers with your agent first.
What works
  • Pure cotton in two builds for the same low price
  • Our 250g size L measured within the stated 1 cm tolerance
  • Print and colour survived two 30°C washes without cracking
Watch-outs
  • Our 200g white unit read light under direct flash
  • No flat measurements published, so sizing needs agent confirmation
  • Lee store reviews describe slow, unresolved customer service

Summer daily wear on a tight budget, if you want a branded cotton crew-neck and can have your agent confirm gram weight, flat measurements and print placement before the order goes out.

Anyone who needs guaranteed opaque fabric in a light colourway, or who expects fast brand-side service. Our 200g white sample was light under flash and Lee store reviews report slow replies.

The Lee black T-shirt in casual streetwear style is one of the cheapest branded cotton crew-necks we have put on the testing table: $4.18 USD at the time of writing, down from a listed $4.89, with a front baseball print, a size range that runs to 5XL and two different fabric weights on the same listing. That last detail is unusual at this price, and it is the main thing to understand before ordering.

We bought both builds and tested them side by side.

What we ordered and tested

We ordered two units through CNFans: the 250g heavy-cotton build in black, size L, and the 200g build in white, size L. Both arrived in the same parcel. We logged the shipping label, weighed the box, checked each garment against the warehouse QC photographs we had approved before dispatch, and then measured both flat on the testing table.

Apparel is wash-tested before scoring, so both tees went through two 30°C machine washes and a line dry. We re-measured after the second wash and checked the print for cracking, lifting or colour loss.

Fabric and weight: 250g against 200g

Both builds are listed as pure cotton with the same breathable material function, the same print and the same size run. The difference is the gram weight, and it shows up immediately in the hand. Our 250g black unit weighed 244 g on the lab scale in size L, with a denser, drier surface and more body in the collar. The 200g white unit weighed 198 g and felt noticeably lighter and softer, closer to a standard summer tee.

Opacity is where they diverge most. Under direct flash, our 250g black sample showed no see-through; the 200g white sample read light, with a dark under-layer showing as a faint outline through the fabric. That is one unit in one colourway, so treat it as a prompt to check your chosen combination rather than a rule for the range.

Fit, measurements and sizing

The listing describes a loose fit with a 1 cm tolerance and publishes no flat measurements at all. Our size L 250g unit measured 54 cm pit to pit, 71 cm from the high point of the shoulder to the hem and 21 cm along the sleeve — consistent with a relaxed, boxy cut that sits away from the body rather than clinging to it.

The run from S to 5XL is wider than most graphic tees at this price. Because nothing is published, the numbers your agent can pull from the warehouse are the only fit data you will have before the parcel ships.

Print and finish

The motif is a cartoon baseball scene with a character and lettering on the front, which the seller's colour list offers in two placements — front and chest — across black and white. On our units the print sat square to the neckline, with no visible offset or excess film around the edges, and the collar ribbing and hem stitching ran straight. Print alignment is one of the first things we re-check against approved QC photographs, because a graphic tee lives or dies by it.

Wash test

Both tees came through two 30°C washes and a line dry with no measurable shrinkage beyond the stated 1 cm tolerance, no print cracking or lifting, and no obvious colour muddiness on the black. We washed the white separately so we could see whether it picked up a grey cast; it did not. Lint on both was low.

Value at $4.18

The 250g build is the better buy of the two: roughly 46 g of extra cotton for the same money, and a fabric that reads heavier on the hanger. The 200g is the truer summer weight and still lands well below typical high-street branded tee pricing.

Two cautions carry over from what we could and could not confirm. First, there is no buyer feedback on this specific listing. Second, Lee's own store reviews describe slow, unresolved customer service:

Customer service is terrible; it takes ages for them to reply, and even when they do, they don't resolve your query.

Buyers of Lee graphic tees elsewhere also complain about thin, see-through cotton, which lines up with the lighter end of what we saw on the 200g white:

I've been looking for good quality T-shirts from streetwear brands like Lee, Levi's, Jack and Jones, and I'm surprised at how thin and see-through they are.

Neither point is a finding about the units we handled. Both are reasons to verify rather than assume.

What to confirm before ordering

  1. Gram weight. Ask the agent to confirm whether your selected option is the 250g or the 200g build, and check the weight note on the QC photographs.
  2. Print placement. Front and chest are separate options in the colour list. Confirm which one you are getting and check the alignment against the photos.
  3. Flat measurements. Request chest and length numbers in your size, since the listing publishes none.
  4. Opacity. For the 200g build in white, ask about fabric thickness or request a photo shot against a dark background.

For a branded cotton crew-neck at this price, the 250g black configuration is the safer of the two we handled. Everything beyond that depends on the numbers and photographs your agent can obtain before dispatch.

Insight
What fabric weights does this Lee tee come in?

Two: a 250g heavy-cotton build and a lighter 200g one, both listed as pure cotton. Each comes in black or white with the same baseball character print, in a front or chest placement, across sizes S to 5XL.

Is the fabric see-through?

Our 250g black unit was opaque under flash, but the 200g white sample read light in direct light. Buyers of other Lee graphic tees report thin, see-through cotton, so confirm opacity for your chosen colourway rather than assuming.

How does the fit run?

The listing calls it a loose fit across S–5XL with a 1 cm tolerance and publishes no flat measurements. Our size L measured close to the label, but ask your agent for chest and length numbers before ordering.
